Development Projects

Private Development Projects

Private development projects are managed by the Community Development Department, which includes Planning, Zoning, Building Division, and Engineering for privately owned parcels.

  • The process begins with staff review of the project land use and preliminary site plan to determine if Board of Zoning Appeals, Planning Commission, and/or Board of Building Appeals approvals are required.
  • Once approvals have been obtained and detailed drawings are received, the project is reviewed for permit approvals for zoning, site plan, and finally building code compliance.
  • Construction may begin after permit approval is granted from the Development Planner, the Development Engineer, and Chief Building Official.
  • Inspections are performed at many steps throughout the construction process and a Final Certificate of Occupancy is issued after completion of all final inspections.
