Record Checks
Many apartment complexes require a records check before renting to an individual. If a form is provided, please bring it to the police department and have a photo ID. If a form is not provided, one is available at the police department at no charge.
The Police Department will check the records maintained only by this department for any reports involving a particular individual. This record check does not check any records which may be on file with other agencies. There is no fee for this service.
Certified Record Checks
Certified record checks (such as those needed in adoption proceedings, and immigration matters) will be done by the Police Department. Only the records maintained by this Department will be checked.
Come to the Police Department between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m, Monday through Friday. Each person needing a letter should provide a photo ID. The Records Clerk will photocopy the ID and ask how long the individual has lived in the city. The Records Clerk will also ask for a phone number to contact the individual when the letter is done.
This procedure will take a few days to do. Make sure you request the letter well before the paperwork needs to be submitted. There is a charge of $1 per letter for this service.
