Would you like to report a pothole, street light outage or other concern? Complete our Report a Concern form to let us know the nature and location of the problem. There is an option to upload pictures when completing the online form. 

Recreational fires are permitted without the permission of the EPA when the fire is for cooking food. Additionally, you may have a fire without the permission of the EPA if you are using it for heating tar, welding, acetylene torches, highway safety flares, heating for warmth of outdoor workers, smudge pots, and similar occupational needs. If you would like to have a cooking fire you must first notify the Fire Department, ensure that the fire is and will stay 50 feet away from any structure or vehicle or is in an approved container that is 15 feet away from any structure, that only dry wood or charcoal is used for fuel, that the fire is constantly attended until fire is extinguished, and that the fire is no bigger than three feet by three feet. Open burning with prior notification to the EPA (1-800-282-9378) is also permitted for ceremonial purposes, prevention and control of disease or pest, or for recognized range or wildlife management. No person shall burn any refuse, rubbish, waste, or other material within the City of Kent.

Parking tickets may be paid at the Budget and Finance Department located at 930 Overholt Road or online at the Kent Police Department website: kentpd.org or on the payment portal.

As of July 1, 2023, the City of Kent contracts with Republic Services for residential trash and recycling service. For additional information please call the Service Department (330-678-8105) or Republic Services (1-800-247-3644).

Axcess Pointe Community Health Center also offers dental services at discounted rates. Kent State University students can seek medical care from the Deweese Health Center, 1500 Eastway Dr. on campus at (330) 672-2322.

All parks in the City close at dusk.

No, you do not need a permit. However, the City does request that you do not hold a garage sale for more than three days in a thirty-day period and that all signs are removed before 8:00pm on the last day of the sale.

Only storm drains that are owned by the City will be cleaned by the City, otherwise privately owned drains must be cleaned by the property owner.
 
Residents can call the Service Department at 330-678-8105 to request City crews review the drain.
Please ensure that all leaves and yard debris are kept clear of the storm drain openings. Additionally, do not throw trash in the openings.

A building permit is needed prior to the start of any construction including new buildings, additions, and decks. For more specific information concerning the permits needed for the building of a shed please call our Building Department (330-678-8107).
